St David's Day left off calendar
Daffodils
Other saints days were included, but not St David's
A council has apologised after producing a calendar which does not mention St David's Day.

The calendar appears on a leaflet about leisure services in Ceredigion and notes other international festivals.

These include the Chinese, Islamic and Jewish New Years, the Queen's birthday, Coronation day and both St Andrew's and St George's day.

The council said it would be terminating its contract with the calendar's printers.

The leaflet omitting the Welsh patron saint's day has been sent to every household in the county.

Other directories

A council spokesperson said: '"Ceredigion County Council has thoroughly looked into this matter and apologises for any distress caused.

"We have contacted the company responsible for the manufacture of the brochure and they apologise for the mistake.

"We checked other directories produced by the company and St David's Day has been listed in all. This is indeed an error."

Ceredigion's director of education, Gareth Jones, confirmed the contract with the printers, Leisure Information Services Ltd from Lancashire, would not be continuing.
