A man who died in a shooting in a Powys town has been named by police.

The body of Godfrey Dowson, 53, was found in the grounds of his home at Llanfyllin, near Welshpool, on Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives initially launched a murder inquiry and a woman was arrested on Thursday morning, but she was released without charge later in the day.

Dyfed-Powys Police said it was not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Thursday.

Mr Dowson's body was discovered at about 1600 BST on Wednesday, and the area was sealed off while police forensic tests were carried out.

Officers had carried out door-to-door inquiries in the market town.
