Men killed in Powys lorry crash

Two south Wales men have been named as the victims of a fatal road crash in Powys.

John Phillips, 68, from Blaenau Gwent, and Terry Durham, 59, from Abertillery, died at the scene of the accident near Presteigne last Friday.

They were travelling in a Peugeot 405 car when it was in collision with a lorry.

Dyfed-Powys Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident at the Whitton crossroads just after 1100 GMT.

Mr Phillips leaves a wife, son and grandson, while Mr Durham leaves a wife, two daughters and three grandchildren.

A statement from Mr Phillips' family said: "He will be sadly missed by all family and friends."

Mr Durham was a long-standing member of Abertillery Round Table and then the Rotary Club.

Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact police in Llandrindod Wells on 01597 822227 or Newtown on 01686 625704.
