Burst pipe forces school to close
Cardigan
The school is expected to open in Cardigan on Wednesday
A burst water pipe has forced a Ceredigion secondary school with more than 750 pupils to close on Tuesday.

No water is flowing into the boys toilets at Cardigan High School/Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi and an area underneath the block has flooded.

The school's director of business, finance and administration, Lynda Harpwood, said the decision to close was taken on Monday afternoon.

Classes should resume on Wednesday, said Mrs Harpwood.

"The school is over 100-years-old and the pipes are probably getting a bit old," said Mrs Harpwood.

"We took the decision to close the school on Tuesday on Monday afternoon after we discovered a cold water pipe had burst.

"The water supply to the toilets has stopped, but repair work is being carried out and we've been told that the school should open tomorrow (Wednesday)."
