Dozens of Dafydds in village
The character of Dafydd
Dafydd "the only gay in the village" is played by Matt Lucas
The Welsh village made famous by the cult comedy show Little Britain is to be inundated with Dafydd look-alikes to raise money for Comic Relief.

Llanddewi Brefi in Ceredigion is home to the fictitious Dafydd, the "only gay in the village".

He is known for dressing in outrageous outfits including PVC shorts and vests.

Dozens of students from nearby Lampeter University will gather at the village dressed in similar outfits to raise cash for charity.

Ian Larsen from the university's students union has been involved in organising the event which will be held on Wednesday.

"Our campus is only a few miles away from Llanddewi Brefi," he explained.

"And we have a large student population here so we thought for Red Nose Day we would try and get as many people as we could to Llanddewi Brefi dressed up like Dafydd.

"We were planning to have a bit of a fun run round the village, but it is very small there so we have decided just to have a gathering.

"We have had loads of interest from the students and from other universities as well, so we are expecting quite a lot of people."

He said that the event was being supported by the pubs and shop in the village.

"The local band are going to be playing for us in one of the pubs," said Ian.

"I am sure it is going to be a great day and everyone will enjoy it and we will hopefully raise quite a bit of money for charity."
