Man dies following road accident

The A470 was closed for several hours following the accident

A man has died after he was struck by a vehicle as he was walking along a main road near Newtown in Powys.

The accident took place on the A470 between the villages of Carno and Clatter shortly before 0200 BST on Sunday morning.

The man who died has not yet been named by Dyfed-Powys Police.

Officers leading the inquiry at Newtown have appealed for anyone with information on the incident to contact them.

The A470 was closed following the accident, but the road reopened at around 1030 BST on Sunday.
