Posh courts Welsh fans
Posh Spice
Posh Spice aims for No.1 with her debut single
The day before she finds out if she has hit No 1 in the pop charts, Posh Spice Victoria Beckham visited Cardiff as part of a whistle-stop tour of the UK to promote her debut solo single.

Up to 2,000 fans queued for up to nine hours to meet the former Spice Girl.

But she was without her footballing husband David Beckham, who was preparing to play in Manchester United's opening game of the season against Newcastle United.

Posh had hit back at critics earlier in the week who had accused her of wheeling out her soccer star husband to boost the sales of her single.

She defended his presence at a public appearance saying their busy schedules meant they wanted to spend as much time together as possible.

In an interview with a Welsh newspaper she said they were not looking for publicity, but "grabbing every minute together".

Posh flew to Cardiff from Glasgow, where she was busy on Friday signing copies of Out of Your Mind, which features Another Level star, Dane Bowers, and garage outfit Truesteppers.

She is the last member of the Spice Girls to release a solo single, with Mel C and Mel B having already notched up their own number ones, as has former Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell.

Only Emma Bunton's release with Tin Tin Out failed to make the top slot, held off by Halliwell last November.

Posh has undertaken a publicity blitz over the past few weeks conducting numerous media interviews in a bid to get her solo career off to a flying start.
