Hillside body in Blaenavon is of missing man

Gwent Police detectives say a body discovered on a hillside near Blaenavon on Thursday is that of missing man, Phillip Dimitrakis.

The 40-year-old was reported to have disappeared on 20 February, after last being seen by a relative at Pontnewynydd, Pontypool.

Police had issued an appeal for help to trace Mr Dimitrakis, who lived in Goytre.

A police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with his family."

The body of Mr Dimitrakis was discovered at around 1130 GMT on Thursday in hills around Blaenavon.

The last sighting of him was by a member of the public at a petrol station in Usk, Monmouthshire, on Sunday 21 February.
