A Swansea teenager has gone head over heels for his latest job in a flamboyant circus show.

Daniel Robert Angelo, from Cockett, applied to join the Circus of Horrors as a guitarist.

But he was told that part of the job would involve him playing upside down on a giant wheel. "I thought it was a wind up," said the 19-year-old.

He will be able to show his home crowd his skills when the circus is at Swansea Grand Theatre next week.

Mr Angelo, who has only been a professional guitarist for four years, was given a crash course in wheel performing by German expert Denis Remnev, who performed the stunt in front of 80,000 people every night on Take That's tour last year.

Having mastered the skills, the teenager said: "I should have expected that life in the Circus of Horrors wouldn't be as any other job, the clue was in the name really."

The Circus of Horrors, which was created by over 15 years ago at the Glastonbury Festival, will be at Swansea Grand Theatre on 23 February.
