A teenager accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death hours after collecting her A-level results has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Katherine McGrath, 19, of Brackla, Bridgend, is charged with killing Alyn Thomas, 22, at her home in August.

Ms McGrath had been out with friends in the town celebrating their exam results on the night in question.

Cardiff Crown Court extended the defendant's bail until her trial, expected to be in February next year.

At a previous hearing, a judge granted Ms McGrath bail following a psychiatric assessment.

The terms included residing at an address in England, being electronically tagged, abiding by a curfew and not entering south Wales except for meetings with her solicitor.

Mr Thomas, of Cymmer, Port Talbot, had been in a relationship with Ms McGrath for a year and had been taking a gap year from college.
