M4 reopens after lorry overturns

A stretch of the M4 was closed for several hours after a lorry overturned in Monmouthshire.

The incident happened at 0115 GMT between Magor services at J23A and J24 at Coldra.

The westbound carriageway was closed along a four mile stretch until about 0700 while recovery work and repairs to the road were carried out.

But the third lane remains closed in both directions, causing queues to build up during rush hour.

Diversions were put in place, with eastbound traffic using the M48 to junction 2 at Chepstow, northbound traffic using the A466 to the A48 at the High Beech roundabout and westbound vehicles travelling on the A48 to J28 at Coldra.
