A market trader has been jailed for six years at Cardiff Crown Court for using a 15-year-old schoolgirl as a 'sex plaything' with his friends.

Mahmood Sadiq, 35, from Cyncoed, Cardiff, offered free drinks to lure the teenager to a flat for sex sessions with himself and two friends.

Prosecutor Greg Bull said: "The girl was treated as a sexual plaything."

The court heard how Sadiq met her on a night out.

Mr Bull said: "The men arranged to meet the girl and took her to a flat.

"Sadiq plied her with drink, took off her clothes and raped her in a bedroom."

Cardiff Crown Court heard Sadiq and the accomplice took the girl to the flat for sex up to seven more times.

On each occasion they were alleged to have given the teenager alcohol before carrying out the sex attacks.

Denied rape

The court heard the girl escaped from Sadiq when she confided in a friend.

When he was arrested, Sadiq told police he did not know the girl.

But officers found text messages on the girl's mobile phone from him begging her and a friend to take part in a "gang bang".

Sadiq denied rape and unlawful sexual intercourse.

But he was convicted by a jury.

'Terrible offence'

Sentencing Sadiq, Mr Justice Richard Curtis said: "She was clearly a vulnerable and unwise girl.

"Your designs on the girl included filling her up on alcohol so that she was incapable whether to consent or not.

"You proceeded to rape her. It was a disgusting and terrible offence."

Sadiq was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
