Man remanded over woman's murder

The response to 999 calls before Joanna Michael's death is being investigated

A man has appeared in court in Cardiff charged with the murder of 25-year-old Joanna Michael.

Cyron Douglas Williams, 19, from Pentwyn, was remanded in custody by magistrates to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on 17 August.

The body of Ms Michael was found at her home at Crumlin Drive, St Mellons, early on Wednesday.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the actions of police before her death.

It is examining the response of both Gwent Police and South Wales Police to emergency 999 calls made before Ms Michael died.
