Driver killed and passenger hurt

A 20-year-old motorist has died and another man has been injured in a road traffic collision near Wrexham.

Police said the two men were travelling from Llay to Wrexham town centre when the Peugeot 106 crashed on New Road, Rhosddu at 2250 BST on Sunday.

Both men were taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital where Aaron Griffiths-Mahoney, from Brynteg, died.

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0845 6071001/2.

Police said the passenger, who is believed to be 22, remains in hospital with serious injuries which are not life threatening.
