Knife appeal after shop is robbed

South Wales Police are appealing for information about a knife and clothing after a newsagent was robbed.

The incident at Newton, near Mumbles, Swansea, happened at about 0920 BST on Sunday when a man apparently armed with a kitchen knife demanded money.

Police said he demanded that the shop worker place money in a carrier bag, before he made off in the general direction of Underhill Park, Mumbles.

Officers said a 34-year-old man was arrested.

Police said the shopkeeper was not injured but had been left very shaken by what happened.

Insp Andy Reed said: "A full investigation is ongoing and we are especially keen to trace the kitchen-style carving knife and items of clothing we believe were discarded following the incident."

Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any other information is asked to contact police in Swansea by calling 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
