Traffic tailbacks during the 2007 Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells
|
Residents in the Powys town of Builth Wells are being asked for their views on plans to improve transport. A study has identified better rail, bus and coach facilities and road options for improving travel and reducing congestion in and around the town. Assembly government officials will be at Builth's Antur Gwy centre until 2000 BST on Friday to discuss proposals. Brochures and comment forms are also being circulated before the consultation ends in September. Options to be discussed include one-way and traffic regulation measures, as well as improvement of the town's Wyeside junction, better bus and coach facilities, and improved access and capacity on the Heart of Wales railway. Proposals for an eastern and "near western" bypass of the town are also up for discussion. Brochures and comments forms should be returned to the Welsh Assembly Government by 18 September. Copies of these will be available, free of charge, at the Antur Gwy centre, and can be viewed online. They will also be available during normal business hours at Powys County Hall in Llandrindod Wells, at Builth Wells library and at the assembly government's transport planning division in Cathays Park, Cardiff.
