Three arrested after drug raids

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs and money laundering offences.

Seven addresses in Pontardawe, Swansea were raided by officers as part of a seven month operation in which more than £1m of drugs have been seized.

The men are now in custody at Swansea central police station.

South Wales Police said the large police presence in the area on Tuesday was necessary to carry out the arrests and search the properties.

The arrests followed months of preparatory work by specialist officers who target organised crime groups.

Det Super Stuart McKenzie, head of the serious and organised crime department, said: "The quantities of drugs seized are significant and these arrests form part of our drive to actively target those individuals who we believe are causing the greatest harm to our communities.

"This operation sends out a clear message to drug dealers that it is our full intention to protect communities from the harm and misery they cause for their own profit."

Ch Insp Dave Bishop said the operation would have a significant impact on the supply of controlled drugs.

"What this operation clearly demonstrates is that no-one is above the law and anyone involved in serious organised crime will be targeted," he added.
