Nineteen arrested at gypsy site

Emergency services were called to the scene after a disturbance

Nineteen people have been arrested after a disturbance at a gypsy site in mid Wales.

Police were called to Withy Beds Gypsy Site on the outskirts of Welshpool in Powys on Sunday afternoon.

There was a large police presence following the incident including a force helicopter. A road diversion was also out in place around the camp.

Travellers from Welshpool and Oxford were arrested for violent disorder. Police stayed at the site overnight.

A recovery firm was asked to collect four vehicles from the scene on Sunday.

A spokesman for Enfield Recovery said: "We have been sent to recover four vehicles. Our staff are on scene and they are just waiting."

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Nineteen people have been arrested in the Welshpool area following a disturbance.

"Police attended the scene and the situation has been resolved."
