The snake could be a danger to small animals police have warned

Pet owners are being warned to keep their animals indoors after a 9.5ft (2.89m) boa constrictor snake went missing from its home.

Police received reports that the serpent disappeared from an address in Starling Road, St Athan, in the Vale of Glamorgan up to three days ago.

The red tailed boa constrictor is not considered dangerous to humans, but could harm small animals.

Residents are advised not to approach or touch the snake but to call 999.
