Suicide woman's father found dead

The father of a young woman who hanged herself hours after her cousin was found hanging has also been found dead.

Dean Stephenson, 40, of Bridgend, died last Saturday, 14 months after his 20-year-old daughter Kelly died.

Kelly and her cousin Nathaniel Pritchard, 15, of Cefn Glas, Bridgend, both died in February 2008.

A police spokeswoman said: "There appear to be no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

The spokeswoman said: "South Wales Police can confirm the sudden death of a 40-year-old man from the Bridgend area, on Saturday April 25, 2009."

South Wales Police are reviewing suicides among young people in the Bridgend area in recent years.

A taskforce is also examining suicides in the county since 2004.

Across Wales teachers, GPs, employment advisers and police are also being trained to spot signs of mental health problems as part of a plan to reduce the country's suicide rate.
