Boy, five, injured in Snowdonia

A five-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after he suffered head injuries walking on a mountain in Snowdonia, say North Wales Police.

Officers received a report that a rock had fallen on the boy while he was walking on Cadair Idris.

The South Snowdonia Mountain Rescue Team was alerted, as well as an RAF helicopter and the ambulance service.

The boy, who is believed to be from Leicestershire, was taken to Ysbyty Bronglais in Aberystwyth.

A police spokeswoman said his injuries are not believed to be serious.
