Man, 30, arrested over explosives

A 30-year-old man has been arrested by Gwent Police under the Terrorism Act on suspicion of possessing explosives.

The man from Grove Park, Blackwood, in Caerphilly county, was arrested on Saturday. The house was searched and made safe by army explosive experts.

Officers said they are treating it as an isolated incident but have increased police visibility in the area to reassure the community.

The man is in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Officers said the man was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of possession of explosives and arrested again on Sunday after articles were recovered at the property.
