A frail and "easily confused" 86-year-old man who had gone missing from his temporary accommodation has been found dead, Gwent Police said.

Officers had appealed for information to help find Edgar Rose, who was reported missing from Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, on Saturday.

Mr Rose, who was deaf and had poor eyesight, was originally from the Ebbw Vale area.

Police said Mr Rose's death was not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Rose, who was described as 5ft 4in (1.63m) tall, was said to be wearing slippers when reported missing.

Officers had worked with the air support unit and mountain rescuers in the search.

Although living in Tredegar, officers had said Mr Rose was from the Ebbw Vale area and it was thought he may have been trying to make his way there.
