A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a driver recruitment agency which left one man dead and three others injured.
The man, from Cardiff, was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and false imprisonment, police said.
The incident happened at an industrial estate in New Inn, Pontypool, Torfaen.
As part of the inquiry armed officers looking for the suspect had surrounded a house in Rumney, Cardiff, but after six hours it was found to be empty.
Gwent Police had been called to the offices of Driverline 247 Ltd at about 1330 BST on Monday.
One man was found injured but died at the scene and another had serious head injuries.
Smoke inhalation
Another two men were found to be suffering from smoke inhalation due to a fire which had been started at the premises.
Police used dogs and a helicopter in the search for the attacker, who had fled the scene at South Pontypool Industrial Park and Torfaen Business Centre.
Their hunt became focused on a house in Penrhos Crescent, Rumney, 20 miles from New Inn.
Several neighbouring properties were evacuated and nearby streets were cordoned off, but after six hours, a South Wales Police spokesman said a search had been conducted and the property found to be empty.
Shortly after, police confirmed they had made an arrest.
All three injured men were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, in Newport, where a spokesman said they were in a stable condition.
