Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a man was critically hurt by a car exiting a car park ramp.

The 18-year-old from Bristol suffered neck. shoulder and back injuries following the incident in Cardiff city centre 0024 BST on Saturday.

He is in a stable condition at the city's University Hospital of Wales.

It is believed the injured man had been in the city's Bar Risa before he went onto the car park ramp and was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa car.

Police are appealing for witnesses and are asking for anyone who can account for the injured man's actions.

A spokesman said on Sunday the roads policing unit were particularly interested to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the injured person lying on the ramp at about this time.

'Account for the actions'

The incident happened on a ramp in the rear lane of St David's House in Wood Street which is next to the Millennium Plaza where Bar Risa is housed.

"It would appear that the injured male was situated on the access ramp when the vehicle exited the car park and as it descended the ramp collided with this male who has sustained extensive injuries," said the spokesman.

The man's family are at the hospital, police said.

Officers are appealing for information about the incident and are asking for anyone who "can account for the actions" of the injured man who is described as white, slim, about 5ft 8in (1.72m) tall, wearing blue jeans and a light coloured T-shirt.

Witnesses can contact the roads policing unit on 02920 527226 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
