A photography exhibition of dogs and their owners will be hung from trees in a park where they go walking.

More than 100 portraits will be placed on dog leads in the trees in Roath Mill Gardens in Cardiff.

During the summer, Betina Skovbro took photos of local people with their dogs, all on the same park bench.

She said she wanted to create a snap shot of life in one of the city's green spaces. The exhibition is held on 27 and 28 September.

"The park is a major part of my life and this exhibition has really come about because of the sense of community that dog walking brings," she said.

"As a regular visitor to the park with my own dog, I was very conscious of the role the park plays as a focus for dog owners and their companions.

She is expecting a number of the people in the portraits to come to the exhibition over the weekend.

Over a period of two weeks Ms Skovbro, 34, asked the people to sit on the same bench in the park with their dogs.

The photographer, who is originally from Denmark but has lived in Cardiff for 10 years, said people were more than happy to pose with their animals.

"They say that dogs often become to look like their owners - or is it the other way around? Perhaps this exhibition will give us a chance to find out," she added.

Ms Skovbrosaid Cardiff Dogs Home had lent her the leads to hang the pictures from the trees.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing all the pictures hanging in the park. It an unusual way to display a photographers work, but it just feels like the perfect place.

"I have no idea what the dogs will make of it!"
