UK flights hit by computer glitch

Staff at Wales' main airport say services are slowly returning to normal after a computer glitch that has affected flights across the UK.

A technical problem at the air traffic control centre at Swanwick saw all departures from Luton airport suspended on Thursday.

There has also been disruption to other airports, including London Heathrow.

A spokeswoman at Cardiff International Airport said two flights were cancelled, to Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Flights at the airport, at Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan, were completely grounded between 1700 and 1800 BST.

"We have been affected in the same way as other airports in the UK," said the spokeswoman.

A small number of inbound services have also been delayed by the incident, including services from Edinburgh, Paris, Alicante and Faro.
