Two dead, one hurt after crash

Two young men have died and a third is critically injured after their car was in collision with a lorry, say police.

The collision happened at about 1530 BST on the A4048 Tredegar to Blackwood road at Argoed, Caerphilly county.

The driver and front seat passenger, aged 17 and 18, were local to the area and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The back seat passenger remains in a serious condition at the Royal Gwent Hospital. The lorry driver was arrested and later released without charge.

The collision involved a Ford Fiesta and a Renault articulated goods vehicle.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigations took place.
