Nurse jailed for rash rape deceit

A nurse has been jailed for nine years after telling a teenage girl that sex was the best cure for a skin rash.

Edgar Cordova, 37, tricked the 14-year-old into having sex with him at least six times and took indecent pictures of her, Cardiff crown court heard.

He was caught when his camera's memory card dropped out onto the street and it was handed to police. Detectives then traced the girl in the pictures.

Cordova, of Bridgend, south Wales admitted six charges of rape.

The court heard that when the teenager came out in a rash Cordova, a hospital nurse, diagnosed it as a "hormonal imbalance" and told her: "The only way to get rid of it is to keep having sex."

Once police found the girl she told them what had been going on and Cordova was arrested.

Prosecutor Marion Lewis said: "Cordova told the girl she must perform a certain task for him - that task was sexual intercourse.

"She then discovered a rash on her body and Cordova told her that it was a result of a hormonal imbalance and the only way to cure it was by having sex with him again. They had intercourse a further three or four times."

Judge Nicholas Cooke told Cardiff crown court: "Cordova was a regular church goer and a responsible servant of the NHS but unfortunately there's another side to him."
