Ex-police officer faces charges

A retired police officer has appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court charged with money laundering and misusing police information.

David Lloyd, 53, a retired South Wales Police officer, allegedly hid criminal cash in his Bridgend home.

He did not enter pleas and will appear at Bristol crown court on 1 December with co-defendant and former colleague Phillip Jones, who is also retired.

A third man had also already appeared in court charged with fraud offences.

Mr Lloyd allegedly hid the money in a cool box in his attic.

He faces three charges - one of money laundering and two of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office by misusing police information.

Co-defendant Mr Jones, 63, from Aberkenfig, south Wales appeared at Bristol magistrates court at an earlier date and faces charges of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office and conspiracy to commit fraud.

The case of a third defendant was also committed to Bristol Crown Court for 1 December.

The offences date from 1 January 1999 to 23 January this year.
