A 59-year-old man has been charged with the manslaughter of a couple who died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The bodies of Margaret Powell, 72, from the Brecon area, and Thomas Morgan, 74, from Port Talbot, were discovered at a house in Brecon, Powys, in December.

Dyfed-Powys Police said he was charged with manslaughter by gross negligence.

He is also accused of 10 health and safety offences at other addresses and will appear before Brecon magistrates on 4 September.

The bodies of Ms Powell and Mr Morgan were discovered by police and ambulance crews who forced their way in to the property on 17 December 2007 in the Pendre area of the town after being called by concerned neighbours.
