A 35-year-old heavily pregnant woman has had to have an emergency Caesarean after burglars attacked her in her bed.

Nerys Price, 35, from Prestatyn, who received serious head injuries from a blow with a blunt instrument, is being treated at Walton Hospital, Liverpool.

Her daughter, Freya, was delivered early as doctors feared the trauma could affect her. She is doing well.

Her partner Simon Morris was hit in the back as he tried to defend her during the raid early on Friday morning.

The burglars escaped without taking anything.

Ms Price, who holds a senior position with a building firm, lives with Mr Morris in the town's Calthorpe Drive.

Her condition is said to be improving and she is due to be transferred to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan for surgery.

She had two weeks of her pregnancy remaining, the Daily Post said.
