Darren Day on drink-drive charge

Darren Day is due to appear before magistrates

Actor and singer Darren Day has been charged with drink-driving after being stopped by police in Cardiff.

The 39-year-old was arrested in Custom House Street in Cardiff city centre at about 0200 BST on Wednesday morning, South Wales Police said.

The performer is starring in the musical Hello Dolly! alongside Anita Dobson at the city's New Theatre this week.

He was taken into custody before being released on bail until 2 July.
