Murder inquiry after body found

A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a 27-year-old woman was found in Newport.

Gwent police say officers were called to an address in the Maindee area of the city early on Tuesday morning.

Paramedics were also called to the house in Dewstow Street, where the woman's body was found, just before 0300 BST.

Gwent Police say a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
