Woman set fire to herself in road

A woman was taken to hospital after setting fire to herself in a Cardiff street, ambulance staff have confirmed.

Firefighters were called to Clive Street in Grangetown at 0027 BST on Thursday but the fire was out by the time they arrived.

It is not known what substance was used by the woman to start the fire.

She was given oxygen at the scene and taken to hospital. The extent of her injuries are unknown although are not thought to be serious.


Chickens and ducks killed in fire

A fire has killed 500 chickens and ducks at a poultry farm near Llandysul in Ceredigion.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at a building on the property at Llanllwni on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire Service said the building was well alight when crews arrived at the property.

One of the firefighters at the scene confirmed all the birds died in the incident.


Drivers injured after collision

Two people were hurt after a two-vehicle collision near Mountain Ash, south Wales, on Bank Holiday Monday evening.

A man and a woman, who were the drivers of the cars, were taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil after the incident at 1715BST.

The man suffered chest injuries after the collision on the A4059.

Anyone with any information about the collision is being asked to contact South Wales Police.


Police appeal on hurt pedestrian

Police are appealing for information after a male pedestrian was injured in a collision with a car in Cardiff.

The man, who is middle aged, had left the Cardiff West End Social Club in Ely and was crossing the road when he was run over on Sunday at 2337 BST.

The collision involved a black Volkswagen Passat car which was being driven along Cowbridge Road West towards Culverhouse Cross.

Firefighters tackle house blazes

Fire crews in South Wales tackled house blazes in Llanelli and Monmouth overnight.

The occupants of a property in Llanelli managed to escape safely. Mid and West Wales Fire Service were called to the blaze at around 0300 BST on Monday.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

One person was rescued from the house in Monmouth after a fire broke out in the kitchen. Crews were called to this blaze at 2130 BST on Sunday.
