Detectives investigating the disappearance of a woman not seen for four days have found a body.

Police said Francaelle Rosser, 60, was last seen when she left her Rhondda home on Saturday night, but she may also have been in a Bridgend pub later.

An area in Talbot Green, near Llantrisant, has been cordoned off and a man is under arrest on suspicion of murder.

Police said they could not yet confirm the identity of the body.

The body was found on Wednesday morning on Coedcae Lane between Llanharan and Pontyclun.

Supt Paul Kemp, who is heading the inquiry, said a large investigation team had been formed and officers would be conducting extensive house-to-house inquiries.

A Home Office pathologist and members of the forensic scientific services have been called to the scene, he said.

"We are appealing for anyone with any information regarding Ms Rosser's disappearance to contact us.

"Ms Rosser was last seen on Saturday evening at 2000 GMT when she left her home in Ton Pentre.

"We are looking to identify her movements between 2000 GMT on Saturday 9 February and 2140 GMT on 11 February.

"We believe she may have been at The Fox and Hounds pub in Blackmill some time during Saturday evening and we would like to hear from anyone who saw her and who saw her arriving or leaving.

"We would ask anyone with information about her movements on Saturday evening to contact us immediately."

The arrested man remains in police custody.

Debbie McCarran, landlady of The Fox and Hounds, said she believed she saw Ms Rosser - known as Fran - talking with a man on Saturday she was thought to have been meeting.

The alarm was raised by Ms Rosser's family when she failed to go home or to work and her red Fiat Bravo car was found parked at the pub.

Around 25 police officers, members of mountain rescue teams and a force helicopter had been searching the area around the pub.

Anyone with information can call the incident room in Bridgend on 01656 306 099 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
