Station death a 'tragic accident'
Pyle station
Ian Jenkins was found early on Saturday
Police say the death of a man who was struck by a train at a railway station was a "tragic accident".

Ian Jenkins, 23, from Kenfig Hill near Bridgend was hit by a train travelling at 95mph early on Saturday.

The driver of the 0455 Swansea to Hereford First Great Western service reported a fatality at Pyle station just before 0520 GMT.

Train services in both directions were suspended for an hour-and-a-half following the death.

British Transport Police said Mr Jenkins was on the line by platform two when he was hit. His body was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

A full report is being prepared for the coroner and an inquest will be held.

A second incident at Pencoed station involving an Arriva Wales train also caused problems for passengers on Saturday.

Arriva Trains later apologised to rugby fans travelling to the Wales game with Scotland in Cardiff who were hit by the delays.
