A murder investigation is under way after the body of a man was found in a house near Pontypridd.

The scene in Grovers Close, Glyncoch, has been sealed off by South Wales Police who said they are carrying out forensic examinations.

The body was found by police officers who had forced entry to the house.

The man's identity has not been confirmed and police are trying to trace his family. A local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police said a Home Office pathologist and a forensic scientist had been called to the scene and an incident room has been set up at Pontypridd police station.

A statement said: "The discovery of the body was made by police officers who, acting on information received, had forced entry to the premises.

"A local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and is in custody at Pontypridd police station."

Detectives want to speak to anyone with information, in particular anyone who was in the Grovers Close area between the evening of 5 February and midnight on Wednesday.
