The paramedic was attacked on board an ambulance
A paramedic has been injured after a group of youths boarded an ambulance and attacked the crew as they answered a late night emergency call in Cardiff.

The paramedic and a technician were sent to a property in the Grangetown area of the city just after 2330 GMT on Saturday.

The ambulance service said a group of youths boarded the vehicle and attacked the men.

The paramedic suffered a suspected broken rib and facial cuts.

The technician was treated for shock.

The crew were able to alert police to the attack by pressing a panic button on board the ambulance.

Another ambulance crew was sent to assist and they took the two men to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

They were later discharged.

South Wales Police said no one has been arrested and they are carrying out inquiries into the attack.
