Four rescued from swamped vessel
Four people were rescued from the sea after their speedboat became swamped with water and a man was airlifted from cliffs in separate incidents on Sunday.

The speedboat was being towed by another boat off Porthdinllaen on the Lleyn Peninsula, Gwynedd, when the rope snapped and it filled with water.

Four people ended up in the water and one, a woman, was flown to hospital.

Swansea coastguard were also called to rescue a 23-year-old man who had fallen from cliffs near Rhossili, Gower.

A helicopter from RAF Chivenor was called to the emergency at Mewslade at around 1200 BST and flew the man, who is from Swindon, to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

He suffered lower left leg and back injuries in the fall which happened when a rock became loose in his hand, said Swansea coastguard.

Crews from Porthdinllaen lifeboat station and Holyhead coastguard aided the rescue of the four people from the speed boat.

A rescue helicopter landed on a nearby beach and took the woman to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

A coastguard spokesman said the woman had "swallowed a lot of seawater".
