Car fires waste resources, say the North Wales Fire Service
Two car fires within minutes of each other in an Anglesey village put lives in danger, say fire chiefs.

Five houses in Aberffraw had to be evacuated as a precaution after one blaze damaged a gas line at 2240 BST on Friday.

Some 20 minutes earlier another car blaze 100m away spread to a garage and damaged a property. One person had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

No-one else was injured. The fire service and police are investigating.

Dave Evans, a county safety manager for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service on Anglesey, said there had been a number of reports of cars being stolen and set alight in the area.

"These past incidents have clearly illustrated the wasted resources and the destructive effect of deliberate fire starting on the community.

"The lives of a number of local residents were put in dangers by these two fires last night, and we will be investigating their cause in conjunction with North Wales Police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police station or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
