UKIP says it would scrap assembly

UKIP said it was their most 'significant campaign'
The UK Independence Party (UKIP) would sack the Welsh assembly's 60 members and sell the Senedd chamber in Cardiff if it wins power in May's elections.

Launching its manifesto, UKIP said Wales had too many politicians and proposed the country's 40 MPs should take over the assembly's work.

The party would overturn the ban on smoking in public, and remove speed cameras unless they cut accidents.

Other pledges include cutting council tax by 40% and leaving the EU.

Party leader Nigel Farrage MEP said the assembly elections would be its main priority amongst the forthcoming UK elections.

"This is our most significant campaign, this is going to be our next big breakthrough as the UKIP," Mr Farrage said.
