Pilot, 70, escapes aircraft crash
A 70-year-old man has spoken of his escape with minor injuries following an aircraft crash in Gwynedd.

Gwynle Jones said his Cessna single seater aircraft stalled as he came into land near Ty'n Brain Farm, Trawsfynydd.

The pilot - a semi-retired plumber - with 20-years flying experience, said he was unhurt and his aircraft only slightly damaged.

The incident has not put him off flying he added. The Air Accident Investigation branch has been informed.

The scene was originally cordoned off following the crash at 1223 GMT on Monday.

Mr Jones said he had bought his plane in Swansea about a month ago and had made an emergency landing at Llanbedr airfield near Tywyn, Gwynedd, whilst trying to get her home.

'Gust of wind'

He had been asked to move the plane from the airfield however and was moving it to a small landing field at Trawsfynydd when the accident happened on Monday.

"I used to fly from here years ago so I have landed here before," said Mr Jones.

"There was quite windy and as I came in to land there was a gust of wind and the plane stalled. It was nothing serious."

His plane was not badly damaged, he said, and is now in a hangar at Trawsfynydd.

"This hasn't put me off, I've always been interested in flying. I started out hang gliding then got a microlite and then my flying licence," Mr Jones added.
