Plaid Cymru: Simon Thomas
Hoping to retain the Ceredigion seat for Plaid Cymru is Simon Thomas.

A father of two living at Penparcau near Aberystwyth, Mr Thomas is 36 years old.

Simon Thomas
He is a graduate of the University of Wales in Aberystwyth graduate, and is originally from Aberdare.

From 1995 to 1998, he was was director for policy and research on Plaid Cymru's National Executive.

He works as a rural development manager with the Jigso agency.

He will be hoping that Plaid Cymru's success in Ceredigion, dating from its capture of the seat at the 1992 by-election, will be sustained at this by-election.
