Labour: Maria Battle
Maria Battle
Labour have selected solicitor Maria Battle, 43, to fight the Ceredigion by-election.

She was runner up to Plaid Cymru for the Ceredigion seat in the Welsh Assembly election last year.

In that election, Plaid's Elin Jones took the seat with 15,258 votes, 47.83% of the total. Maria Battle polled 5,009, 15.70% of the total.

Ms Battle is a director for Age Concern in Ceredigion and has been a solicitor for 18 years, specialising in legislation for children's rights.

She is a Welsh learner and is an experienced local campaigner but has not held political office in the past.
