Charlotte chosen to sing at Dome
Teenage singing star Charlotte Church is to make history when she will be the first performer to sing at the Millennium Dome. The teenage star from Cardiff, who turned down the Pope and Bill Clinton to stay home on the Millennium Eve, has agreed to appear live at the Dome in a show before Christmas. Ms Church will perform her new single and millennium anthem Just Wave Hello on 21 December.
Charlotte, 13, whose classical album Voice Of An Angel has sold more than 2m copies, will join the fierce battle for the Christmas Number One when her single is released on Monday. The star performed the same song at the closing ceremony of the Rugby World Cup in Cardiff in November. She decided to release it as a single because it proved so popular. Charlotte will sing at the centre of the Dome's Journey Zone surrounded by a choir of children to mark the official opening of the Ford-sponsored section. She has been advertising for Ford over the last weeks in a multi-million campaign. The schoolgirl soprano is currently the biggest UK artist in America, selling more than 100,000 CDs there in the last week. |
