Men charged with stealing Ab Fab phone
Julia Swahala Julia Swahala's phone was allegedly stolen from a Welsh hotel

Two men have appeared in court charged with stealing a TV star's mobile phone and making an offensive call.

The mobile phone belonged to Absolutely Fabulous star Julia Swahala who plays Saffron in the hit series.

Jamie Rees, 24, and Gethyn Abraham,19, both hotel workers, are alleged to have stolen the phone and to have made an offensive call to the star's father, Nadim Swahala, causing him actual bodily harm.

Miss Swahala had been out for a meal while filming a Christmas special with Men Behaving Badly's Neil Morrissey and Stephen Tomkinson, star of Ballykissangel, when the phone went missing.

From Jury's to court

The actors were staying at Jury's hotel in Cardiff where both the accused men worked.

Laundry manager Rees, of Ely, Cardiff, and Abraham, of Caerphilly, are also charged with impersonating a police officer.

Cardiff magistrates have adjourned the case until a later date
