Herve Bola drowned after jumping into a pool

No-one should be charged over the death of a teenager on an adventure holiday, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

Herve Bola, 16, of north London, drowned at Sgwd y Gwladys falls, Neath Valley, in the Brecon Beacons in 2002.

An inquest jury returned an unlawful killing verdict in 2005, but it was overturned by the High Court in June in favour of an accidental death verdict.

The CPS said on Tuesday there was not enough evidence for charges over the death of Herve, of Woodford Green.

The announcement followed a CPS review of the case following the inquest jury's unlawful killing verdict.

CPS reviewing lawyer Mark Carroll said: "Herve's death was a tragic incident and it was only right to review all the evidence again as thoroughly as possible to ascertain whether anyone should be charged or not.

"The evidence did not suggest that anyone present acted in a manner that could be considered as being criminal."

Herve, who could not swim, panicked and drowned within moments of leaping into the cold water in the upper Neath Valley in July 2002.

Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful.
