Mr Williams, 42, from Newport, died when the gantry he and three colleagues were standing on broke loose and fell onto the riverbank below.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive into the cause of the accident is continuing.

Officials say it will be some weeks yet before their preliminary report is finished.

The platform has been removed from beneath the Avonmouth bridge on the M5 and is being kept in a secure compound.

A number of other items have been sent away for closer examination.

A large crowd of mourners are due to attend the humanist service in the gardens of Tredegar House.

Two of Mr William's children will read their own tribute to their father during the hour long service.
