Lift-off for hot air balloon festival

The festival has brought colour to the skies of north Wales

An international hot air balloon festival has taken place in Llangollen.

The festival, which started on Saturday, was billed as the biggest in Wales.

BBC Wales's Roger Pinney reports on a new event for Wales
Twenty colourful balloons of all shapes and sizes floated over the north Wales countryside over the weekend.

Organiser Christian Brown said he could not wait to take people "up, up and away".

"We've a riot of colours with balloons all around," he said.

"We've got lasers, displays and we will be free-flying at dawn and dusk.

"This is the largest collection of special shaped balloons in Wales.

"We hope to make this the third largest event in the UK, so it is very exciting. People love coming here, they love flying, it's going to be fantastic."

Pilot Chris Monk added: "I think what we have gathered here are some of the most exciting special shaped balloons in the world.

"Combine that with some of the most exciting country to fly in, it is absolutely stunning."
